SOUTH ISLAND: FJORDS, GLACIERS, AND OPEN ROAD IF YOU PACE IT RIGHT

This is where New Zealand becomes cinematic. The challenge is restraint: the distances are long, the scenery demands stops, and everyone tries to cram too much in. We build itineraries that let the landscape breathe.

Queenstown + Milford Sound

3-5 days

The dramatic anchor. Milford Sound cruises timed for weather and light. Queenstown as a base for adventure, wine (Central Otago Pinot Noir), and day trips.

Best for:
Everyone — this is the signature South Island block

Planner’s edge:
We time the Milford drive for light conditions, not just departure schedules.

West Coast + Glaciers

2-3 days

Franz Josef, Fox Glacier, Pancake Rocks, and a coastline that feels raw and uncurated. Best combined with a TranzAlpine train journey from Christchurch.

Best for:
Nature immersion, photography, those wanting the wilder South Island

Planner’s edge:
Weather dictates everything here — we build contingency into every day.

Central Otago + Wanaka

2-3 days

Pinot Noir at its Southern Hemisphere best. Arrowtown's autumn colours. Wanaka's quieter lakeside energy as a Queenstown counterpoint.

Best for:
Wine travellers, autumn visits, those wanting a calmer pace

Planner’s edge:
We pair Wanaka with Arrowtown on the same day — the two villages are 30 minutes apart and the combination is better than either alone.
