TORRES DEL PAINE: GRANITE, TOWERS, GLACIERS, AND WIND THAT MAKES YOU FEEL ALIVE

Torres del Paine is Patagonia's crown jewel: a national park where the scale is almost disorienting. Granite spires, turquoise lakes, calving glaciers, and a sky that changes every ten minutes. The wind is part of the deal — plan around it, not against it.

Day Hikes + Lodge Base

3-5 days

For those who want the landscape without the tent. Mirador Las Torres for the signature view — the hike is genuinely demanding, but the towers at dawn justify every uphill metre. Valle del Francés for the amphitheatre of granite. Grey Glacier by catamaran for ice on scale. A luxury lodge as the base: EcoCamp, Explora, or Tierra Patagonia.

Best for:
Those wanting the Patagonian experience without multi-day camping, couples, milestone trips

Planner’s edge:
We match the lodge to the experience you want — Explora for guided intensity, Tierra for design and views, EcoCamp for sustainable adventure.

The W Trek

4-5 days

The classic multi-day route: Grey Glacier (west arm), Valle del Francés (centre), and Las Torres (east arm). Refugios or camping depending on tolerance for wind and shared bathrooms. The most satisfying version of the park for serious walkers.

Best for:
Fit walkers, adventure couples, dedicated hikers, those who want the full immersion

Planner’s edge:
Refugios book out 6+ months ahead — we secure the beds before the rest of the trip is planned. November–March only.

Wider Patagonia

3-5 days

Torres del Paine is better as part of a wider Patagonia chapter. Perito Moreno glacier on the Argentine side — the calving is spectacular and close. El Chaltén for Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, and some of the world's best free hiking. Punta Arenas as the gateway, with a Peninsula Valdés extension for wildlife.

Best for:
Those with 10+ days in Patagonia, photographers, wildlife + walking combinations

Planner’s edge:
Patagonian weather is the variable — we build flexibility into every day so a bad-weather morning becomes a great-weather afternoon.
